Weekly blog

Monday: Today we didn't do a lot except for watch videos of Science Olympiad  and the SO team got there picture taken on front o our banner. We won first place in the region! That was a great achievement knowing that our team is only 18 including me, and the other people had 100 people competing. I had so much fun doing it, but we have the states competition next month. So I am looking forward to competing in that! That was all we really did today. 

Tuesday: Today I was really tired in class, but I tried to hang in there. Also, our seat arrangement in the class has changed. Anyways, we started off with our daily science starter and then we went straight into doing our study guid and then we did our lab. The science started was pretty easy when we got the equation in it, the new equation is work equals force times distance. This equation is really easy to remember. After that we started our study guide, since we have eighteen people in our class, we did eighteen questions. For me, the study guide was really easy. After that we finished the data table part of our lab. Since Chad wasn't here we just finished it without him. That was all we did today.

Wednesday: Today I was wide awake and ready for class! Today we finished our lab and we got a new one. We started off with a really easy science starter, the science starter was really easy for us once we got the equation. Our new equation is power equals work over the time it took to do it. After putting that in our equation sheet, we went straight into finishing our unit 2 notes. The last two slides were about work and power. We learned the equation for power and we learned more about work. Then we did 10 questions on the study guide. The test is next Tuesday. I am sure I am going to ace the test because I feel like i got the concepts and I understand the content.  The study guide quests were really easy for me. After that we finished the centripetal force lab. I finished the rest of the questions and I checked it over and turned it in. Then we got a new lab called work and power lab. We only had to answer the first page and question one on the back page. That was all we did today.  

Thursday: Today was a fun day, we started a new lab. So we started off the day with our daily science starter and then we went straight into our lab.  The science starter was about power and work, since we have a test next Tuesday we were reviewing. Again, I feel really ready for it.   This is a picture of the power and work lab that we did today.  We recorded that data for the arm strength today and at home, I am recording that leg strength. So far this is a really fun lab.  That was all we did today.    


Friday: Today was a good day, we finished our work and power lab. Before that we did our daily science starter. It was really easy for me, and it was a about work. After that we did some review questions about the unit 2. Then went straight into the lab. We checked over our data and we completed the data table. After that we did the questions on the lab. These questions were a little hard but I still answered them good. Today was a good day since it is Friday!

Weekly blog (Feb. 23 to 27)

Monday: Today we got to officially test our catapult, then we recorded the data. First, we did our daily science starter then we got straight into our lab. Since today was the testing day of it all, we went with our groups in t the cafeteria. The stations were power, accuracy, and knocking over a tower of cups. Today was really fun.


Tuesday: Since today was a snowy day we had no classes. Even though there were no classes, I spent 20 minutes of my day reviewing some of my notes. 


Wednesday: Today was a short day of school, and the classes were only half an hour long. So it started out doing our daily science starter,which was about section 1 unit two review. It was about objects free falling, Circular motion, and projectiles and trajectories. After that we took some more notes on unit two section 1. I learned that what an object is free falling it does not encounter any air resistance, so the only force acting on it is gravity. After taking 10 minutes on the notes, we worked on our two lab sheets. One is with our group, and the other is your individual lab worksheet. My Group finished the lab sheet that recorded all the Data. For homework tonight and tomorrow I have to finish the individual lab worksheet. That was all we did today since we had a short class.

Thursday: Today we did not have science class, but instead the Science Olympiad groups went to Panera bread and studied the events. Since I am only doing building events I didn't really study them but practice them. My events are write it do it, air trajectory, and duct tape challenge. I do not practice air trajectory because we cannot shoot the balls in the restaurant. I did one write it do it challenge and one duct tape challenge.

Friday:Today was a great day, we did our daily science starter then we did a review foe the unit 2 quiz that we have next Tuesday. It is about the 5 vocabulary words, 2 equations, and that is mostly it! The vocabulary words are weightlessness, projectile, free fall, gravity, and terminal velocity. The quiz is going to be only 24 questions so knowing that, I feel good about it. After that we got a new lab and we filled out data, the we started on a graph about it. That was all we did today.

Improvements:
I want to improve on making my graphs neater, and making my lab more organized.

Weekly blog (Feb 16 to 20)

Monday: Today I felt really tired and I just wanted to go to sleep, since we just had a 4 day weekend. Today also seemed liked a slow day. We did our daily science starter which was about our unit to unit two. Then we did a can experiment, we put a certain amount of of water in the can so it would stand up by itself on the corner of the can. This unit is mostly about gravity, we wrote some new equations in our cheat sheet. The new equation is weight equals mass times gravitational acceleration. After doing that we took notes on our new unit, since we didn't have a lot of time left we only took notes on the first slide. After, Mrs.G let us spend 15 minutes to finish our vocabulary homework. That was all we did today.

Tuesday: Today I was not as tired as I was yesterday. We started off with our daily science starter. It was about the notes that we took yesterday. After that we took more notes and we talked about more of our unit. In some of the note taking I zoned out a little bit, but I still understand it. Then we talked about our next lab/project. It is about making a catapult that would shoot three different objects. But first to get our minds into thinking about air devices, Mrs. G showed us a video that was calling pumpkin chunkin. The two videos that we watched we're funny and educational. Since I am in Science Olympiad and one of my events is air trajectory, the project will be easy for me. We got our lab sheet but all we did was write our group members names. I am with Lauren and Kyler. We also drew a diagram and figure it out what materials we would bring tomorrow. I think that this project is going to be fun. That was all we did today. 

Wednesday: Today was a good day because we work on our catapult product more. First we did our daily science starter then we worked on our project. Our our science starter was about yesterday's notes and most of the vocabulary. After doing that we split into our groups and we work on our project. We had to bring class anything that would be helpful for our project. My group started building the catapult, we are using hot glue, popsicle sticks, rubber bands, cardboard, and spoons. We didn't exactly build the diagram that we drew on paper yesterday. Since we came to science class with new ideas, we put all our ideas together and we formed one good idea. We didn't finish it yet, but we started to hot glue the possible sticks together. Then we thought about where to put the rubber bands so we would have enough kinetic energy. Then we had to end class.

Thursday: Today was a fun day because we got to test our catapults and make some tweaks on it. After we get our daily science starter which was about unit two and gravity we got your groups and we quickly started on our lab. We put some more popsicle sticks on it and we got to launch stale marshmallows. After doing that for a couple times we tweaked it. We support the spoon and we added a couple more rubber bands, we also decided to make the spoon I did different angle because when we shot it the marshmallow hit the ceiling. Tomorrow we still have to add a couple more things on and then will be done. That was all we did today.

Friday: Today we did our daily science starter then we finished our device for the catapult lab. First we did our daily science starter, which was about free falling and that there is no air resistance when an object is free falling. After that we worked on our catapult, my group had to make finishing touches and actually replace a spoon. Since we tested it a lot , we actually broke the spoon! Today we were assigned two different test, shooting to go into the bowl,and knocking over a tower of plastic cups. That was all we did today.

Improvements:
I could improve on not zoning out and I could also improve on making notes. I zoned out a little bit when we were going over some notes so I should definently improve on that.

Weekly blog (Feb 2 to Feb 6)

Monday: Today was tiring day and a fun day at the same time. Today we got a new lab took some really short notes on the Newtons third law and worked on our lab. First we took notes on Newtons force and what affects it, like mass,and applied force. Our new lab is called Bowling for forces. It has to do with acceleration, force, velocity, distance, time, and mass. We got into groups after talking about it.I am in a group with Selden and Delaney. To be honest, they were mostly playing around but we still got it finished. After we finished the part were we fill out the mass and time, slow, and fast class was over so we had to finish it for homework. We did a basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer ball, golf ball, bowling ball, and we did an exercise ball for extra credit.  


Tuesday: Today we continued our lab, took more notes, and we did more questions on our lab. First we did our daily science starter then we took some notes. The science was pretty easy for me. I checked on Jupiter grades and we have a test next Tuesday so I already started studying. After doing that we took notes on some more of the physics chapter. After taking those notes we went over the and we compared answers from last nights homework on filling out the other things. My group had the same answers except one of them on the velocity part. Today was a good day.

Wednesday: Today we had a blast. We had a really cool demonstration, and we talked about physics a little more. After that we had Mr.Simon come in and we talked about the experiment. The demonstration was that a cinderblock would be placed on his chest then Mrs.G would break the cinderblock by smashing a hammer on the cinderblock. We said that Mr.Simon should flex and hold his breath. It was very amazing, Mr.Simon was fine and he did survive. I think that this was a really fun demonstration.

Thursday: Today we finished our lab and we turned it in, then we got our study guide and we worked on it. After having a really fun day yesterday we started to study in class. I only have 4 questions left on the lab because I did some of them during homework. I already finished them and turned it in. After that we got our study guide. I had already started studying but we got our study guide today. I finished the first column but there are 4 columns on it. Today was a chilling day.

Friday:Today we finished our study guide and that was all we did. Today seemed like a really short day today. I finished my study guide and I checked it. I only had a little bit to do because I worked on it last night. After doing that we had guided study for the rest of the day. 

Improvements: I could improve on remembering thinks like turning in my lab, I could also work harder and not get so distracted in class.

Weekly blog (Jan.26-30)

Monday: Today was a fun day, except that I already know that tomorrow it going to be way funner than today.  Tomorrow we are going to be chewing, or chomping bubble gum! Anyways, today we did our daily science starter, talked about the quiz that we have on Wednesday. We also started another lab. So we reviewed a little bit because we have our first quiz in physics on Wednesday. Mrs.G said that it is a little baby quiz so it shouldn't be that hard, and I am feeling pretty good. Today we also started our new lab. W got into groups and we are actually doing the experiment tomorrow, but we talked about it today. The lab is about ''chomping'' gum. So it will be fun!


Tuesday: Today we had a lot of fun!  We did some practice problems on a white board, and we worked on the Chomping Gum lab. Today I also got to ''chomp'' gum! I the beginning of class we  did our daily science starter, and then we went straight into reviewing problems on a white board. We reviewed problems with scalar and vector quantities. We also did some physics problems like figuring out the acceleration of an object, speed, and velocity. The very fun part of the day was working on our lab. We got back into our      groups,my group is Evan, and Anna. Yesterday we created a google doc and we figured out the question, hypothesis, and we made a chart. So today I found out that I was the test subject, which was fun, except   that in the beginning I bit my tongue. Today we also listed the different variables and my group finished the graph and we printed it out, so we are in good shape. Today was a fun day! 


Wednesday:Today was our first quiz in Physics. It was easy and it was a little hard at the end of the quiz, the question with the pythagorean theorem was a little hard but I feel like I did a good job. The beginning of Physics is understanding the terms and understanding the equations of it. I think that I understand most of it. That is all we did today. 


Thursday: Today was an ok day in my opinion, we reviewed our quiz and we finished our lab that we started on Monday. So we got our lab back and we very thoroughly went over it and even wrote down a list of the things that we missed and the things that we were/are confused about. I got an 84 which is a high c. I think that I could of done better. But it is what I got! After doing that we finished our lab. My group had to finish the procedure and the conclusion. Then we had to print it out and give it to her. That is really all we did today.


Friday:I felt like today was an easy day, because we didn't have any quizzes nothing to worry about for the next day and it is Friday! Today we went over some new notes, and we did a station activity with a partner. So first we our daily science starter about the 2nd law of Newton's laws. Then, did a little demonstration about an inertia. We put a flash card on or finger and then a penny on top of the flash card. Then we had to pull it out and the penny would be on the tip of our finger. After having that fun, we got into partners and we started the stations. I was with Will, we got it half way done.  I think that this was a good exercise to remember the inertia. 

Improvements:
I could improve on studying better and getting my labs finished. I think I should improve my study habits and start focusing more when we do labs.

Weekly blog Jan.19-23

Monday- Wasn't at school. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Tuesday: Today was definently a good start. Today was the first day of the the second semester and the first day of the second art of the school year! I think today was a good start because we went straight into it. We talked a little bit about what we are doing in physics in the next two quarters, we are making catapults, dropping eggs, and a lot more. Today we also took notes on the first two sections in physics. It was unit 1 motion, Mrs.G said that if we are good at math it wouldn't be as hard. So tonight for homework we have to do 13 vocab words to do on physics. I am not really sad or happy that we starting physics but we will see!


Wednesday: Today we started a really fun lab and we went over some more of the physics notes. I think that my classmates and I were really tired today too. We had a very fun weekend and we also had a 4 day weekend so it was fun. We divided into different groups and we started to work on our worm lab. In this lab we raced worms and we found the displacement and the distance they went. I think that this was a really fun way to understand the meaning of these words. My group still has to finish the lab, it is due on Friday. While taking the notes we talked about scalar and vector quantities. I think that today was a fun day.

Thursday: The science olympiad people weren't in science class today, so we went to Panera bread and studied there. My events are Air trajectory, write it do it, and duct tape challenge. I had a lot of fun at Panera.


Friday: Today we got right back into science class, we took notes and finished our speed worm lab. Today we also had a shadower. So first we took noted on resultant quantities. We had examples on different situations. We  only took notes for 10 minutes, so there isn't a lot to talk about. Next, we finished/continued our lab. I was in a group with Varun,and Jonathan. Jonathan was a shadower that day so it is only me and Varun. Since the Science Olympiad people weren't in science class or guided study we had to rush and finish it today. We actually only finished the graph but we still have to do some questions on the lab this weekend. I think that this was a fun and rushed lab. Today was a relaxing day for me.

Improvements:
I could improve on making my handwriting neater. I could also improve on making my binder neater. I think I could take it home and organize everything.

Weekly Blog (January 5 to 9)

Monday:Today was a really tiring day and most of the people in my class were tired including me. Luckily, science class is at the end of the school day so we were not as tired as we were in the morning (Math Class). Anyways, today we went straight into midterm studying. We talked about only studying Unit 1 today and continuing the other units on other days. For homework I am only studying sig figs, precision and accuracy, and the scientific method. We did a review sheet and we went over the answers. We could either do it around the room or on the computer. I felt that today was a good day, and I definently had to remember a lot. I was also surprised that we are almost in our second half in the school year. It definitely went by fast. I can already tell that this week is going to be a stressful week. Today I could prove on recalling all of the topics from unit 1. Once I work on the topics I will remember it and it will be easier. That was all we did today.



Tuesday:Today was a good day because we really started to get onto studying Today we studied unit 2. While we were studying we had little fun games that we tried in between questions. We had to answer different questions about the unit, my partner was Lauren. Here is a funny picture of one of our games.

This game was to get the vanilla cracker to your mouth only using facial expressions and under a minute. This was really funny game. I didn't get into my mouth and it fell and I just ate it. I felt that this was a good break to do in between questions. Mrs.G always finds a good way to spend our break!
That is all we did today.


Wednesday: Today was one of those days that is not bad but it wasn't the best. Today we studied Atomic structure and theory. This is about the periodic table and the different number of protons and electrons. We also studied a little about the different people who discovered the atom. J.J. Thompson, Bohr, and other people. We played more games and we took good breaks. One of the games was to hit all the cans on the ground with only a yoyo tied to your waist, your are only allowed to use your waist. You can spin also. This was another good way to spend our break. I felt that I had to remember a lot but it was still good.

Thursday: I felt like today was a good/funny day. We focused on reviewing the periodic table and reviewing the different trends on the periodic table. Today I had to do a lot of remembering of the past. We had a lot of fun today, we played a game where u are in a group and we had to answer questions with your group. We also had bonus questions, and on one questions you had to find the owl on the questions. The owl was like 1 mm. on the screen. Like I said Mrs.G always finds a good way to study and have fun! I was in group with Lauren and Keira. Every time we talked about the answer we would have to whisper, they had good whispering voices and I didn't, so it was way easier for me.  I felt like today was a good day for me and my classmates.

Friday: I is finally Friday! But it actually isn't that relaxing science we have midterms. I am not really stressed about the science midterms, but I am really stressed about the social studies exams. Anyways today we reviews unit 5 and 6, we combined the units together and it basically has the same amount of information in it. These units were about bonds and ions. We did the same game that we did yesterday, and my team won! We got Hershey's chocolate bars This game is really fun, especially when you win! I think  today was a fun and good day.


Improvements:
I could improve on studying and trying to remember all the units in all the subjects.
