Weekly blog

Monday: On Monday we continued doing our labs. We finished our experiments on the lab. The next day we finished the questions. Today we also studied for our quiz on Thursday. The expirements were very cool even though we didn't get to do the dry ice expirement. Here are some really cool pictures from today. These pictures will be at the bottom of my blog.⤵These expirements were really fun and my group was Lauren Anna and Emma. Today I could improve on following directions and helping others follow directions.

Tuesday: On Tuesday we finished our lab and we did our conclusion question on our lab. Today we also went over colloids suspensions and alloys. We went over this because we have a quiz on Thursday. We also talked about what the quiz would be like on Thursday. Today we also finished our aprons. There is a picture of mine at the bottom of the blog too.⬇I could improve on coloring my apron neater and get the terms right on colloids suspensions and alloys.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we did a lot of practice on all the things on the quiz tomorrow. We reviewed physical and chemical properties. We studied a lot that night to. We also had a chance to finish our lab. I studied that night a lot to.  I think I may have over studied. I could improve on studying and not over studying.

Thursday: On Thursday we had the quiz. I did know all the vocab but I messed up on some of the multiple choice questions.  I need to study not last minute but the week before. So I don't over study. I hope I do well.

Friday: On Friday we went over our quiz. I didn't do as well as I wanted but Mrs. G had a talk with us after we went over the quiz. I forgot to write in full sentences!! I really need to work on that. I could improve on working on writing neater and not over studying.

Kanuga pictures

Kanuga

Monday: On Monday had to get up at 3:15. To get to the bus at 4. I was so tired on the bus that I even slept on the bus. It was worth getting up at 3:15. We stopped for breakfast at Hardees. Then we stopped for a rest stop and we got some snacks at the vending machine. Hardees wasn't bad. We had to drive all the way up to Hendersonville. I was sitting next to Evan. When we finally got there someone told us what to do next. We met all the instructors and then went to went to our cabins. There was a boys cabin and there is a girls cabin. We put our stuff on the bunks.  And then we had lunch.  We then assembled our groups. And we had our first class. My first class was mountain ecology. We talked about nature you want to solo hike and we went on a hike. We found a catipiller and a black snake. The solo hike was really fun.  Then we had some free time. We had dinner with hopping.
Hopping is setting up the table and putting the food on the table.  For the night program we had a naturalist come. We saw salamanders, snakes and a groundhog.  That night was really fun. After that we went back to our cabins and slept. I slept good that night.

Tuesday: On Tuesday we had to get up at 6:30.  We had breakfast with hopping. And we drove for an hour to the rafting center. Then we drove for 30 minutes to the river. I had a really fun time rafting. Our raft was in the back. The guide showed us how to paddle and we went on the river. There were class 2 rapids and class 3 rapids. The guide also gave us information about how the river formed. We did several rapids and then we stopped at a rock to jump off of it. The rock was probably 20 feet tall. I jumped off of it and so did other people. That was really fun. Then we went on a few more rapids. And we stopped at a beach for lunch. For lunch we had sandwiches and cookies. Then we had a little bit of free time on the beach. So far rafting is really fun. We went on a bunch of class rapids. And we finally stopped. We went back to the center.  And we rinsed off and we changed  clothes. Rafting that day was really fun. Then we went back to our cabins. We had some free time. And we had dinner with hopping. That night we had a fire inside. We did a bunch of fun activities. That night was also really fun. Finally we went to sleep.

Wednesday:  On Wednesday we had to get up at seven. We had breakfast with hopping. That day we went to the climbing tower. The climbing was super fun, we got to climb on little rocks. That was a once in a lifetime experience. Mrs.G even went on. I made it to the top. Some people didn't but it was still okay. Next we have lunch. We packed up and put all of our stuff on the bus. Then we left. Kanuga was extremely fun. On the bus we had time to fill out our journals. We went to a rest stop.  We had cicis pizza for dinner.  Mr. Nye payec for all of our dinner. That was really nice. Then we kept on driving and we finally reached location. We arrived around 8:30.

Monday- Today we had a student from another school shadowing.  I forget her name but she seemed nice. We started off by doing a scientific notation scavenger hunt.  It seems fun but it is all about numbers.  I was helping the shadowing student while we were doing the hunt.  We did not finish the whole page but here is what it looks like: Some of it was a little hard but, I had to help the student who was shadowing. I wasn't so good at scientific notation but once we did more practice I understood it more better.

Tuesday: Tuesday was a fun day. We played a review game called Grudge ball.  Mrs. G explained how to play and we divided into 3 groups. You start with 10 X's and the other teams can take away your X's. My team won and we were so happy. Here is a picture: That was a good way to review for the test.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we did our test. I thought the test was going to be easier than I thought it was but it was actually a little difficult.  I did not get a really good grade and next time I should study more thoroughly and maybe take better notes. That is how Wednesday went.

Thursday: On Thursday we went over our test and we talked about solids, liquids, gases, and plasma.  In my old school we already covered this, so it wasn't new.  I did learn some new concepts about plasma and gas. That day was fun.

Friday: Friday was a really fun day first Mrs. G had a demonstration.  Here is a picture:   Next we started our lab that was really fun. We did a bunch of cool experiments. That day was really fun. I could improve on studying and learning scientific notation. I cannot wait until Kanuga!!!

1st Blog in science class

Monday: On Monday we started to design our aprons. My element is Linkium.  We have not finished them yet but it will be fun to finish them. We also started to do our first science notes.  That day was pretty fun. Here is a link to see some of the aprons.  It looks like we are going to get some serious and fun science experiments.

Tuesday: On Tuesday we set up blogger and twitter.  We did our first tweet on Tuesday too. We were studying precision and accuracy and Mrs. G had and idea of throwing a tennis ball at Chad, so he put on a football helmet and he had an apple on the top of the helmet, we drew a target behind him and Mrs. G threw the ball and Lauren marked were it was.  That was fun to watch. Here is a link to the picture of Chad. This was a nice way to make it clear that precision and accuracy are different.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we were studying water displacement. Our team started by putting  a 50ml water in a graduated cylinder. Then we put either a rock or a marble or a fishing weight in. We put the rock in and then we measured how much the water rose. In science class we always love to go big. This part was really fun, so Kyler changed into his bathing suit and he went in to a trash can filled with water and we had a kiddie pool under so we could catch the water. Kyler got out and he dried off while we were measuring the water in the kiddie pool. Then we took our calculator and divided the mass of Kyler by his volume and got his density. This was an exciting way of to see by example water displacement, mass, volume, and density.

Thursday: On Thursday we started off with starting our volume and density lab. The first thing we did was put different liquid densities in a graduated cylinder. First we put 10 ml of honey in and then  we put 10 ml of corn syrup in, then we put in 10 ml of milk in.  After that we let it sit for a while. It was very interesting the way the milk settled in. Then we put in 10 ml of dish soap , we had to pour super slow so the soap would go to the bottom.  After that we put 10 ml of water then 10 ml of vegetable oil and finally 10 ml of rubbing alcohol.  Here is a picture of what it looked like this was a fun way of measuring and seeing density.

Friday: On Friday we had a lot of fun.  We had a quiz!!! The quiz was not as hard as I thought it would be but it was a little challenging.  I am looking forward to seeing my results on paper.  The quiz was about studying chemistry & the process of science. Before we had the quiz our teacher sent us a link to a practice quiz. It only only had 18 questions but I got 16 right, so I think I did a good job of studying.  Ok I will blog more next week.  Happy Labor Day!
