Week 1 blog

Monday: Today was is the first blog day. This will be my first post of the year, we went to school last week but we didn't blog because we were getting into the swing of things. Last week was so busy and tiring we just didn't have time to do it, but we did have time to start our first lab and we did a bunch of really cool demonstrations. This year we will be studying earth and environmental. I think that it will be really interesting because we learn about how the earth works and how nature evolves around us. Last week we did a few demonstration mostly about chemistry but it was ok because they were very cool, Mrs.g demonstrated elephant toothpaste, potato launcher, making a cloud in a bottle, and a "flamethrower". All of these demonstrations were very cool. Today we continued our lab about baking cookies. But we had a twist to it, we changed the ingredients by adding or subtracting the amount of it. Friday was very fun because we had a person blindfolded in our group, that was the person who mixed all of the ingredients to make the cookie dough. That was really interesting. Today we took our first notes and we and we didn't get time to do anything else with the lab. We took notes on the first two slides and we talked a lot about the earth. We have a test on Friday. That is all we did today.

Tuesday: Today was a very fun day because we got to eat cookies! Today we recorded data and we talked about how the cookies turned out. In the beginning of class we did an awesome demonstration of precision and accuracy. Last year someone went up and wore a football helmet and Mrs.G threw a tennis ball at the apple which was on the persons head. This time she had people go up an shoot a nerf gun at a target and we marked where the person shot. This was a very fun demonstration. After that we got to eat the cookies and record the data. In my opinion the cookies with the extra eggs were horrible and it was very yucky.

Wednesday: We started off class today with our usual science starter. It was a review from the notes. Today we started a new lab about Oreos! I am in a group with my table, Emma,Sydney,Will,Maise,Keira, and Sebastian. Our lab was about the difference between double stuf Oreos and regular  Oreos. In the beginning we just weighed each Oreo. We weighed the gaffer, and the white stuff inside the Oreo. My group managed to finished the first and second row of the data table. This lab has been pretty fun and interesting so far. My hypothesis is that the double stuf is the same as the regular Oreo.

Thursday: Today all we did was our graph on our Oreo lab. It was sort of confusing and boring because it wasn't really fun and it was confusing because when we did our averages we all got different answers so it was hard to get the graph right. I thought today was tiring and it was not fun at all. I am almost done with my graph, I just have to color it.

Friday: Today was testing day. This is our first test of the year. We are reviewing from last year. It was about science after and general science knowledge, the test was not that hard but it wasn't that easy. I hope the I get a good grade to start off the year. I really need an extra boost in the beginning of the year. That was all we did today.

Improvements: I need to improve on making my data tables and graphs more organized and neater. I thought that this week was ok.

Final Blog

Final Science blog

So far middle school at WAAS has been fun, stressful, and the best place to learn. This is going to be the final blog that I do for 6th grade! I can't even believe that the school year is already over. I went by so fast! Mrs.Giacommelli is the best teacher I have ever had. I am not trying to be nice, I am just stating the truth! She looks out for us and she really cares. Especially in Science Olympiad she is a great support. All the teachers are nice too, they all care and they devote most a lot of time to planning, creating activities, and doing all the other things that they have to do.

Defy Gravity

As you might see, other kids are putting their experience about defy gravity here. Well, I did not go but I have been there before like 5 times already. It is a place where trampolines are everywhere! You can jump all over the place, I bet it was fun when my school went there though.

Science this year

This year has been great because we did a lot of fun labs, and we did a lot of fun activities. This year was a little unique because we split the year into doing chemistry in the beginning and physics in the end. The top to labs that I liked was the water displacement lab and the burning sticks with chemicals lab (I have no clue what it was called). The displacement lab was about finding the displacement of an irregular shaped object. This object was Kyler,  and we put him a bucket off water in a garbage tub. This lab was fun because we went outside. Another good lab was burning popsicle sticks with different elements on it. Thus lab was really cool. I liked chemistry better than physics because we did cooler lab and we did a lot of fun activities. I have learned a lot this year it has been great. I really like learning. I learned a mix between physics and chemistry. My expectations have changed a lot so far, I thought we would be in a lower level of learning. I am looking forward to learning more and learning about earth and the environment. I could improve my grades and m study habits. This will help getting my grades up. My goals are to improve and tune everything up.

Weekly blog

Monday: Today was a good day, we took our quiz and we worked a little bit on our study guide. I think that playing Kahoot was really fun.  The science olympiad and the math counts people had to take the quiz today. I think that that quiz was a little hard but there was one question were it got a little confusing. I hope that I get a good grade!

Tuesday:Today I was really tired and it was sort of a really slow day. We took notes and Mrs.G showed a us a demonstration. We took our last set of notes. Then Mrs.G showed a cool demonstration about reflection and refraction. That was all we did today.

Wednesday: Today we took the wave test. The whole sequence was the same except that we are not going to be graded on it. Mrs.G was kind enough to do this because we have finals next week and we haven't had enough time to do it. I think that this was a very good review and that was all we did today.

Thursday: Today we had a hardcore review. We did 16 Kahoot questions and Mrs.G had the board covered with EVERYTHING. Today was a good day to review, we did a lot and I feel like it really helped me. I am really tired but I am going to get plenty of sleep over the weekend.

Friday: Today all we did was review and we finished our blog, Mrs.G wasn't here but Mrs.Trainer was so she asked us questions and it was good. That was all we really did.

Improvements: I can improve on remembering the terms and my study habits.

Weekly blog(5/4-5/8)

Monday: Today we got right into thinking about waves. We did different thing instead of our normal science starter.  We went onto a site called kahoot. Mrs.G said that that is what we are going to do from now on. I think that it is a very good site and it really fun. After having fun with that we went straight into taking notes on another section about Waves. So far learning about waves had been pretty interesting and fun. After that we got our first lab. This lab required a slinky so it was pretty interesting.Today was a great day.

Tuesday: Today was another great day. We started with Kahoot, which was fun and we also continued our lab. After the kahoot, we talked about waves and then we continued doing our lab. We took some notes on waves and then we wen straight into our lab. The lab questions were very easy because we had already finished half of it yesterday. I think today was pretty good.

Improvements: I could improve on making my handwriting greater and also taking better notes.

Weekly blog

Monday: Today was the first day of quarter 4. We started off with cleaning our binder, I didn't have a lot of things except for a lot of labs. We kept the all the stuff about unit 3. After that we did a  science starter which was about an equation that we  learned in the begging of unit 3. It is 1/2 mass velocity squared. Then we applied the equation to a word problem. After that Mrs.G let us do our vocabulary. It was 5 terms so it was really easy to get finished. After that we worked more on our mechanical energy lab. That was all we did today.

Tuesday: Today was a great day. Today we got a new lab, and and we talked about the new egg drop lab. We started off class with our daily science starter. It was about calculating potential energy. I felt good that I got the answer right.  After that we took notes on the section 2 part of unit 3. After that we drew a few diagrams about the different types of energy. Potential energy and Kinetic. After that we got the egg drop lab. We choose groups and we reviewed the rubric. I am in a group with Chad and Jake. I feel like we have a solid idea. That is all we did today.

Wednesday: No blog today!

Thursday; Today was a shortened out class because we had to do the fun run starting at 12:00. We started off with the daily science starter which was about using an equation to solve the word problem.  After that we jumped straight in to start making our device for the egg drop project. I had to saw off a cap to open a bottle. Tomorrow we are hopefully going to finish it Then when we comeback we are going to do the testing. That was all we did today since it was a short class.

Friday: Today was a really fun day. We finished our project and we got to put the egg in it! We started with our daily science starter which was about the conversion and conduction of heat. I already learned most of these words in fifth grade last year. After that we jumped right into finishing our egg drop project. I had to finish sawing of the plastic of the bottle. While I was doing that Chad and Jake were mixing the corn syrup and the conditioner. After that we put bubble wrap and duct tape around it,then we were ready to go. We are going to start testing in two weeks. Since Spring break is next week!

Improvements: I think this week was awesome, and I could improve on thinking of ideas for improving the egg drop project. I could also improve on my organization of my locker.

Weekly blog

Monday: Today was an awesome day in science class. We played a review game and I feel like I am going to ace the test tomorrow.  I feel really ready because I have been studying all weekend. So we started with our daily science starter which was about the five equations that we need know and also the units. After that we talked about the test a little bit and that we should do really good because it is the last test of the quarter.  After that we started playing grudge ball. My team was Chad, Ben, Lauren, and Sebastian.  I got my questions right, and all the other teams decided to dominate Will's team.  So after playing for a while the three teams left were tied. That was all we did today.

Tuesday: Today was the big day! The day that really counted. And fortunately I feel really ready. First we started off with the daily science starter which was about the centripetal acceleration and the equations. Then we started the test. The test had 39 questions or so. It was a little hard in the beginning of the plug and chug questions. But I still think I got through it pretty well. We spent about the whole class time doing it. I feel like I did a good job on it. That was all we did today.

Wednesday: Today was a great day! We got back our tests and I got a 94! I am so happy. So we started off by reviewing the test and then we did our daly since starter.  The science starter was about an intro to unit 3. After that we took some notes about unit 3 section one. It was about kinetic energy. We also learned 3 more new equations about how to calculate kinetic energy. After that Mrs.G gave us time to do our 8 new vocab words, tweet, and blog. That was all we did today.

Thursday: Today was a good day. I feel really tired but I am happy that we have no school tomorrow.  We got a new lab and got to test kinetic and potential energy energy.  First we started off with the science starter which was about potential and different types of energy. Then we went straight into starter off the new lab which id called mechanical energy lab. I am in a group with Sebastian, Lauren, and Keira. We didn't finish the data part but we did finish the part where we are supposed to fill in the potential energy. That was all we really did today.

Improvements:  I could improve on staying more attentive and pain attention to the notes when we are reviewing and learning them.

Weekly blog

Monday: Today we didn't do a lot except for watch videos of Science Olympiad  and the SO team got there picture taken on front o our banner. We won first place in the region! That was a great achievement knowing that our team is only 18 including me, and the other people had 100 people competing. I had so much fun doing it, but we have the states competition next month. So I am looking forward to competing in that! That was all we really did today.

Tuesday: Today I was really tired in class, but I tried to hang in there. Also, our seat arrangement in the class has changed. Anyways, we started off with our daily science starter and then we went straight into doing our study guid and then we did our lab. The science started was pretty easy when we got the equation in it, the new equation is work equals force times distance. This equation is really easy to remember. After that we started our study guide, since we have eighteen people in our class, we did eighteen questions. For me, the study guide was really easy. After that we finished the data table part of our lab. Since Chad wasn't here we just finished it without him. That was all we did today.

Wednesday: Today I was wide awake and ready for class! Today we finished our lab and we got a new one. We started off with a really easy science starter, the science starter was really easy for us once we got the equation. Our new equation is power equals work over the time it took to do it. After putting that in our equation sheet, we went straight into finishing our unit 2 notes. The last two slides were about work and power. We learned the equation for power and we learned more about work. Then we did 10 questions on the study guide. The test is next Tuesday. I am sure I am going to ace the test because I feel like i got the concepts and I understand the content.  The study guide quests were really easy for me. After that we finished the centripetal force lab. I finished the rest of the questions and I checked it over and turned it in. Then we got a new lab called work and power lab. We only had to answer the first page and question one on the back page. That was all we did today.

Thursday: Today was a fun day, we started a new lab. So we started off the day with our daily science starter and then we went straight into our lab.  The science starter was about power and work, since we have a test next Tuesday we were reviewing. Again, I feel really ready for it.   This is a picture of the power and work lab that we did today.  We recorded that data for the arm strength today and at home, I am recording that leg strength. So far this is a really fun lab.  That was all we did today.

Friday: Today was a good day, we finished our work and power lab. Before that we did our daily science starter. It was really easy for me, and it was a about work. After that we did some review questions about the unit 2. Then went straight into the lab. We checked over our data and we completed the data table. After that we did the questions on the lab. These questions were a little hard but I still answered them good. Today was a good day since it is Friday!
