Tuesday:Today we did the burning and fun part of our lab. We burned a lot of different things. Today was really fun because we had a mini explosion. We used Hydrogen gas to see if it was going to make a lit match go out and when it did it make a pop! That was a test for hydrogen. Today we also burned zinc and copper. This wasn't amazing but it was still cool.
Wednesday:Today all we did was have pop quiz on balancing equations. I dont really feel good about my grade... It only had ten questions so if you get 2 wrong your grade is a C.
Thursday: Went to Medieval times
Friday: No science
Improvements: Practice balancing equations more.

Tuesday: Today we mostly studied and took. Today we also took a lot of time and we practiced identify covalent bonds and ion bonds. The we kept on reviewing the notes. We have an open binder test on Monday. Today wasn't very eventful, but it was just like a high school chemistry class!! It was interesting learning about all this stuff because we learn about how two things react and bond.
Wednesday:Today we learned about balancing equations. This is really hard at first but when you get used to just looking at it gets easier. I took notes on this on youtube videos, so I really understand it now. That was all we did today. Today was pretty chill.
Thursday: Today we got a new lab that required burning so it was really fun today. We burned magnesium which after burned produced a white powder. This was an extremely cool experiment. We used a bunsen burner again. Those burners get really hot so that is why we used it. When you stare at the magnesium burning it will scorch the retina of your eye so we had to be careful.
Friday: Today we worked more on our lab. We worked and questions on lab that included balancing equation, so that was fun. We also burned copper. After it burned it was a powdery black substance. It was really cool. When Mrs.G deleted it with water the water was pitch black.
Improvements:I could improve on making my handwriting more understandable and making my locker more organized.

Tuesday- There wasn't any school, Veterans Day!
Wednesday: Today I finally end my short break from being out of the country! Today we basically went over our study guide that we did, and we went over the whole unit using a little periodic table. So when we went over the study guide and I knew it all, because while I was on the plane I went over the whole Unit like 6 times, so I felt I knew it well. Then Mrs.G gave us a periodic table which excluded the noble gases and the lanthanides and actinides. Then we had clues to give us hints were we were supposed to put them in.
Thursday: Today we took the test. It was a little shorter than I thought it would be, but I got a good grade on it. I got a 95 on it!! I am really happy, and I studied really well. That is all we did today.
Friday: Today we went over our test and we also did another part of our lab. Since we did a good job on our tests we got donuts and Milk while having lunch. Then we did the other part of our lab. The only thing that reacted with copper was suffer. So that was interesting.
Improvements: I could prove on my organization and my handwriting.

Tuesday: Today we talked more about our unit, we also did an experiment from our lab that we got today. So first we took notes and we learned about metals, non-metals,and metalloids. This part of the unit was also interesting because it is interesting to learn about how things and made and how the earth is made up of different things. This whole unit is very interesting. Science is very interesting!! The experiment we did was turning two substances into a pink substance. The equation was AgNO3+NaCl=AgCl+NaNO. If you didn't realize but these are exactly the same letters as the original answer and they are just in a different order. This was an interesting thing to talk about.
Wednesday: Today we worked on our lab more. We did the other two experiments and we also did some of the questions we had on our lab today. One of the experiments we did today was an interesting experiment because we turned a liquid into a solid without heating, or cooling it. It was just another cool reaction. Today we also put seltzer tablets into a small water bottle and we closed the lid. We didn't wait for it to explode but we weighed it and then we took the cap of and we weighed it again and we saw if it was the same mass as the other one. Lastly,we did some of the lab questions on the lab.
Thursday: Today we painted our boxes that we have due on next Friday. I painted mine orange with the bottom of it black. Today was more of an art class than a science class. My element is Zirconium. It is an interesting element. We also continued doing our science fact sheet. We are going to bring your box home so we can put things on it that relate to that element.
Friday:Today we some more notes on our chapter. We also finished it today. Our test on it is on Thursday of next next week. I am going to start studying now so I can get a good grade on it. Today we also studied in class by matching note cards together with a partner. I think that I will study hard and try to get a good grade on this test.
I could improve my handwriting and my studying.

Tuesday: Today we had a nice surprise. This experiment was really fun. So Mrs.G gave us a flame test lab. This seemed like another usual lab, but it ended up being something really fun. Mrs.Giacommelli was soaking popsicle sticks in different element dissolved in water. We had copper, lithium, strontium, sodium, potassium, sodium and potassium mixed, sodium and potassium seen through cobalt glass, calcium, barium, and finally an unknown. So Mrs.G talked to us and showed us a bunsen burner aka blow torch. I think that this was a pretty cool tool. It makes a very hot flame when you turn it on. When we put copper throughout the flame it made it jade green flame, when we put lithium it was a crimson red, when we put strontium through it was a really bright red. When we put sodium through it was a regular orange, when we put potassium through it was purple violet color, when we put sodium and potassium mixed through it was a orange Then we did something different we had cobalt glass so when we put the sodium and potassium mixture through again it was a violet. When we put calcium through it was a deeper orange that the sodium, then we put barium, it was a yellow greenish color. Here ar some pictures.
This is the one through cobalt glass.
Wednesday: Today we continued doing our blow torch fun. Today we did the unknown and we did some of the elements again. Overall this lab was really fun i had a lot of fun myself. I think that everyone else had a lot of fun to. Today we also talked about the quiz that we have tomorrow. The quiz is going to be about the people who figured out the atom and about the atom. I have been studying and hope I do well.
Thursday: Today we had the quiz. I think the quiz was a little hard, I didn't study as well as I should've. I didn't have a lot of time. I don't think I am going to get the best grade. Today I started on my atomic project which is due on Monday. My element is neon, and I working independently. I think this project id going to be fun.
Friday: Today we got our tests back, talked about mole day, and TGIF! When I got my quiz back I wasn't so happy about my grade. We went over our quiz and I realized that the mistakes that I make were careless errors. I think that I should've studied more. Today we also talked about Mole day. It is next Tuesday. We bring in a white shirt and we decorate and put jokes on it about Avogadroes number. That concludes my blog!
What I could improve on:
I could improve on making my study habits better and making my handwriting better.

Monday: On Monday we continued doing our labs. We finished our experiments on the lab. The next day we finished the questions. Today we also studied for our quiz on Thursday. The expirements were very cool even though we didn't get to do the dry ice expirement. Here are some really cool pictures from today. These pictures will be at the bottom of my blog.⤵These expirements were really fun and my group was Lauren Anna and Emma. Today I could improve on following directions and helping others follow directions.
Tuesday: On Tuesday we finished our lab and we did our conclusion question on our lab. Today we also went over colloids suspensions and alloys. We went over this because we have a quiz on Thursday. We also talked about what the quiz would be like on Thursday. Today we also finished our aprons. There is a picture of mine at the bottom of the blog too.⬇I could improve on coloring my apron neater and get the terms right on colloids suspensions and alloys.
Wednesday: On Wednesday we did a lot of practice on all the things on the quiz tomorrow. We reviewed physical and chemical properties. We studied a lot that night to. We also had a chance to finish our lab. I studied that night a lot to. I think I may have over studied. I could improve on studying and not over studying.
Thursday: On Thursday we had the quiz. I did know all the vocab but I messed up on some of the multiple choice questions. I need to study not last minute but the week before. So I don't over study. I hope I do well.
Friday: On Friday we went over our quiz. I didn't do as well as I wanted but Mrs. G had a talk with us after we went over the quiz. I forgot to write in full sentences!! I really need to work on that. I could improve on working on writing neater and not over studying.

Kanuga
Hopping is setting up the table and putting the food on the table. For the night program we had a naturalist come. We saw salamanders, snakes and a groundhog. That night was really fun. After that we went back to our cabins and slept. I slept good that night.

1st Blog in science class
Tuesday: On Tuesday we set up blogger and twitter. We did our first tweet on Tuesday too. We were studying precision and accuracy and Mrs. G had and idea of throwing a tennis ball at Chad, so he put on a football helmet and he had an apple on the top of the helmet, we drew a target behind him and Mrs. G threw the ball and Lauren marked were it was. That was fun to watch. Here is a link to the picture of Chad. This was a nice way to make it clear that precision and accuracy are different.
Wednesday: On Wednesday we were studying water displacement. Our team started by putting a 50ml water in a graduated cylinder. Then we put either a rock or a marble or a fishing weight in. We put the rock in and then we measured how much the water rose. In science class we always love to go big. This part was really fun, so Kyler changed into his bathing suit and he went in to a trash can filled with water and we had a kiddie pool under so we could catch the water. Kyler got out and he dried off while we were measuring the water in the kiddie pool. Then we took our calculator and divided the mass of Kyler by his volume and got his density. This was an exciting way of to see by example water displacement, mass, volume, and density.
Thursday: On Thursday we started off with starting our volume and density lab. The first thing we did was put different liquid densities in a graduated cylinder. First we put 10 ml of honey in and then we put 10 ml of corn syrup in, then we put in 10 ml of milk in. After that we let it sit for a while. It was very interesting the way the milk settled in. Then we put in 10 ml of dish soap , we had to pour super slow so the soap would go to the bottom. After that we put 10 ml of water then 10 ml of vegetable oil and finally 10 ml of rubbing alcohol. Here is a picture of what it looked like this was a fun way of measuring and seeing density.
Friday: On Friday we had a lot of fun. We had a quiz!!! The quiz was not as hard as I thought it would be but it was a little challenging. I am looking forward to seeing my results on paper. The quiz was about studying chemistry & the process of science. Before we had the quiz our teacher sent us a link to a practice quiz. It only only had 18 questions but I got 16 right, so I think I did a good job of studying. Ok I will blog more next week. Happy Labor Day!
